4.85%: RBA rate rises to its highest level since November 2008 📈

On November 3, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) announced a 25-basis-point rate hike, raising the rate from 4.60% to 4.85%, exactly in line with market expectations.

With expectations fulfilled, there was no surprise shock. Technically speaking, the resolution of negative news often helps risk assets find a floor and stabilize more than prolonged uncertainty does.

The significance is this: the Fed only just began its first rate hike since 2023 on September 16, and now Australia is following suit. This suggests that central banks around the world are tightening in sync. However, the move was already priced in, and the 25-basis-point pace is relatively moderate—not an aggressive escalation.

For traditional financial markets, keep an eye on three things:
- Whether interest-rate differentials support the Australian dollar in the short term
- Whether the U.S. Dollar Index comes under pressure as a result
- Whether global bond yields continue to rise

For crypto markets, I’m cautiously optimistic: the rate hike has been absorbed, policy uncertainty has eased, and if $BTC can hold key support, capital may flow back in. The real risk is that central banks take a more hawkish stance going forward.

Do you think this round of synchronized rate hikes means the worst is over, or is it only just beginning?
