New Jersey has dropped its lawsuit against Coinbase over staking and lifted the cease-and-desist order as well.
According to a November 3 report by PANews, Coinbase legal counsel Molly Abraham said on X that New Jersey users can resume staking services after a suspension of more than three years. Wisconsin, Maryland, California, and Washington are next in line. CEO Brian Armstrong reposted the announcement, confirming that users will soon be able to participate in staking again.
This marks a shift in state-level enforcement, but does not change the federal stance or guarantee that the other four states will follow suit. Scenario one: if more states drop their cases or lift cease-and-desist orders, state-level compliance pressure on staking services will continue to ease. Scenario two: if the list does not extend beyond these four states, the impact will be limited to New Jersey.
