Golden Pig’s take: The inflation-halving proposal for $NEAR has passed, but the coin price is falling. Don’t conflate the two.
House of Stake’s HSP-029 status now shows “Succeeded”: the maximum annual inflation rate will be reduced from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months.
The proposal estimates that about 11.8 million fewer NEAR will be issued over two years, while staking rewards gradually decline from 4.80% to around 3.07%.
But on Binance spot, $NEAR is down about 8% over 24 hours, with roughly $97 million in trading volume; it has fallen about 33% since 10/12.
Two things to keep in mind: a passed vote doesn’t mean the change takes effect immediately—validators still need to upgrade the protocol. There’s also a 90-day grace period before issuance is officially reduced. So this is a long-term improvement in supply, not a short-term catalyst being realized.
Do you think reducing inflation is genuinely good news for $NEAR , or does it hurt stakers? Share your thoughts.
