Oil prices have finally fallen. If they hadn’t, I’d have to walk to work ❌

Here are a few reasons for the drop:

1. Progress in U.S.–Iran diplomacy: Iran and Qatar have held consecutive rounds of talks. The market expects tensions to ease and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to resume, causing the risk premium to quickly fade.

2. The U.S. is leaning toward diplomacy: There was no major military escalation over the weekend, and Trump’s team seems to favor negotiations over force, further easing concerns about supply disruptions.

3. OPEC+ is holding steady: Its December production target remains unchanged, with no additional supply to support prices.

4. A technical pullback: After gaining in October amid geopolitical concerns, oil prices fell on Monday as investors took profits.

Personally, I think this looks more like the risk premium unwinding than a fundamental improvement. If negotiations continue to make progress, oil prices could fall further. But if talks collapse or another attack occurs, prices could rebound quickly.
