๐บ๐ธ๐ท๐บ The U.S. wants Russian gas flowing back into Europe through Ukraine, potentially with an American company acting as the middleman.
Trump's envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff have reportedly floated a plan to restart Russian gas shipments through Ukrainian pipelines as part of negotiations for an energy ceasefire.
The proposal could give all sides a financial incentive to make a deal.
Russia would regain access to European customers, Ukraine would earn badly needed transit fees, Europe could get cheaper energy, and American investors could profit too.
Washington has even proposed holding Russia's gas revenues in a third-country account to prevent the money from funding the war.
The biggest obstacle is Europe, where leaders remain opposed to restoring dependence on Russian energy.
But with winter approaching, gas reserves running low, and the Iran war already costing Europe an additional โฌ100 BILLION in energy expenses, the economic incentives are getting harder to ignore.
And perhaps that's part of Trump's approach to peace: give countries more to gain from doing business together than from trading missiles.
