When you can't find anything you enjoy doing in an industry, and you reach a certain age without having made it big or being willing to settle for less, it's easy to give up or feel lost.
That's why so many people in their late twenties or thirties end up lying around at home instead of going to work or doing factory jobs. They feel like society has no place for them, and they don't want to bow and scrape to do work they hate for little pay, only to be treated badly on top of it.
So, a man really needs to have a career—or enough money not to worry. Otherwise, it's really hard to get by in society.

When I first entered the workforce, I knew a guy in his thirties from my maternal grandmother's side of the family who lay around at home every day. They even had to bring his meals to his bed. At the time, I had just one word for him: lazy. But once you get out into the world and see so many people who've given up and checked out, it starts to seem pretty normal.
