Binance Has Recovered 90% of the Stolen Assets. But That's Not the Whole Story.

90% recovered. Ten major tokens fully backed. Withdrawals expected to reopen Sunday.

That's meaningful progress from Binance, but I think the bigger story is being overlooked.

What caught my attention isn't just the recovery percentage. It's how Binance is handling the financial damage.

According to its October 31 update, Binance is using three sources: the SAFU fund, the futures insurance fund, and corporate treasury. It has also committed to covering the remaining shortfall rather than passing the loss to users.

That's an important distinction.

But here's where I remain cautious: replenishing assets and rebuilding trust are two different jobs.

The next real test is transparency.

Binance has taken a new Proof of Reserves snapshot, with its full zero-knowledge proof expected by November 3. That gives users another way to verify backing, although reserve verification alone doesn't answer every question about exchange security.

The remaining 10% also deserves attention, particularly because lower liquidity makes recovery more complicated.

I want to see three things: full recovery, independently verifiable reserves, and withdrawals reopening as promised.

A 90% recovery is progress. The final 10% and the quality of transparency will tell us much more.

Am I reading this correctly, or is the market giving too much attention to recovery speed and not enough to long-term trust?
