Aave just froze the tBTC reserve. Wrapped BTC risk is back in focus.
Per KuCoin News, Aave's guardian multisig froze the tBTC reserve on its V3 Ethereum Core market on Oct. 31. New deposits and extra borrowing against it are blocked after Threshold paused minting and Bitcoin redemption requests.
Existing positions aren't touched, but it's a reminder that wrapped assets carry bridge and issuer risk on top of $BTC itself. Fear is already elevated this week.
