On October 29 Binance suffered one of the biggest crypto security incidents ever reported with approximately $6.3 billion in crypto assets affected.

💰 WHAT WAS STOLEN?

The affected assets included $USDT $USDC $BTC $ETH $BNB and other cryptocurrencies. Around $3 billion has reportedly been frozen on-chain by stablecoin issuers and other platforms.

🕵️ HOW DID IT HAPPEN?

Binance’s investigation found multiple security breaches including a compromised DevOps environment. Hackers were able to execute unauthorized transactions through affected infrastructure.

Binance says there is no evidence that users' wallet private keys were leaked and the full investigation is still ongoing.

🛡️ BINANCE'S RESPONSE

Binance says users will not bear the losses. The company plans to cover the financial impact through its corporate treasury and SAFU (Secure Asset Fund for Users).

Binance is also working with blockchain security firms, stablecoin issuers and law enforcement to freeze and recover stolen funds.

🧠 THE BIG LESSON

This incident is another reminder that crypto security is everyone's responsibility.
