1. Where it closed last night
At the 10-30 close, BTCUSDT closed at 77,368.77, down 623 points (-0.80%) from the previous candle. It opened at 77,991.89, reached an intraday high of 78,804.01, and a low of 76,325.98.
The key point is this low: 76,325.98 was the lowest price in the past 20 candles, so the market did make a new low for this stretch during last night’s session. But it did not close near that low—from the bottom, the close rebounded 1,043 points (+1.37%). The candle left a 1,043-point lower shadow and an 812-point upper shadow, with a real body of only 623 points.
I wouldn’t call this a “bottoming reversal.” The most I can say is that buying support came in around 76,300, and the price did not close at its low. The distinction between these two descriptions determines how to handle what comes next.
II. EMA20 Position and Consecutive Candle Count
EMA20 is currently at 81,046.38. The closing price is below it for the 9th consecutive candle, a distance of -4.54% (3,677.61 points). To get back above it, the price would need to rise +4.76%.
There’s another factor that’s easy to overlook: the moving average itself is moving down. It was at 81,433.49 on 10-29 and 81,046.38 on 10-30, a drop of 387 points in one day. The “return to EMA20” line moves down a little each day; it isn’t a fixed target.
III. Two Levels: Confirmation and Invalidation
This signal came from the signal candle on 10-20 (after 6 consecutive candles below EMA20):
· Confirmation level: 83,439.00 (the signal candle’s high). The 10-21 close of 84,093.42 moved above it, confirming the structure at the time; the intraday high reached 84,898. It is now 6,070 points away (+7.85%).
· Invalidation level: 81,200.00 (the signal candle’s low). The first close below it came on 10-27; on 10-28, the close of 81,343.50 briefly reclaimed it by 143 points; on 10-29, the price fell back below it, closing at 77,991.89. Last night was the 2nd candle since the breakdown, closing 3,831 points below the invalidation level. The 10-28 “lost and regained” move is now completely invalidated.
In other words, the old structure has no pending upside confirmation left. We have to wait for a new signal candle. The prerequisite (at least 3 consecutive closes below EMA20) was met long ago; what’s missing is the candle that “closes back above the moving average for the first time.”
There’s one reference level left on the chart below: 74,967.97 (the low of the 9-15 candle, and also the lowest point of the last 60 candles), 1,358 points below last night’s low. This is a level marked on the chart, not a prediction that price will reach it.
IV. Main Focus of the Day
The narrative has been almost entirely dominated by one event: a security incident at a major exchange. In the past 24 hours of news, the affected platform’s token was mentioned 26 times, compared with 12 mentions of BTC. A few key updates: the platform says it has arranged about $6.34 billion to cover losses; further investigation confirmed that the impact was more widespread than initially disclosed; several media outlets reported that withdrawals are targeted to resume on Sunday. Meanwhile, about $1.57 billion in leveraged positions across the market were liquidated, and institutional funds continued to flow out of exchanges. The Fear & Greed Index remained at 30 (Fear), unchanged from the previous day—fear hasn’t deepened, but there has been no recovery either.
In short: this downturn is being driven by a credit and liquidity event, not economic data. So until “withdrawals return to normal” becomes a reality, the weekend’s event updates are worth watching more closely than the technical levels on the chart.
ETH is weaker: it closed at 2,245.54, with EMA20 at 2,393.39. It has closed below it for 24 consecutive candles, a distance of -6.18%, and last night’s low of 2,174.08 was already a new low for the past 60 candles. If the weaker side hasn’t recovered, there’s no basis to say the stronger side will turn first.
V. What I’ll Do
The structure isn’t giving me a new basis for entering right now. I’m waiting for just one thing: a candle that closes above EMA20 (around 81,046), after at least 3 consecutive closes below the moving average—that would be the new signal candle, and its high would become the new confirmation level. Until that candle appears, I won’t participate, and I won’t treat “it’s fallen a lot” as a reason to enter. Position sizing and stop-losses are separate matters and aren’t discussed here.

Between tonight and tomorrow, which do you think we’ll see first?
A. The platform resumes withdrawals as scheduled on Sunday;
B. BTC closes above 81,046 (EMA20) first?
