Anti Cheat Reads Your Whole Machine ๐ฎ
Stopping cheats in a competitive game means inspecting the player's computer, which is why the leading systems run deep in the operating system and see far more than the game.
Players accept it because the alternative is a lobby full of cheats, and that is the whole bargain, which is surveillance of your own machine in exchange for a fair match.
$IMX built its network around getting real games onchain, and on $SOL the same wall shows up twice, because the game state has to be readable by any node and any check a program runs has to be handed its input first.
So onchain games get the worst of both. The state is public, which helps the cheats, and the anti cheat has nowhere to run that does not involve shipping a player's machine data somewhere.
Arcium handles the checking without the collection. The telemetry is split into fragments across a cluster of nodes, no single node holds a readable copy, and what comes back is whether the session was clean.
That verdict settles on Solana as an ordinary public transaction, so a tournament or a ladder can prove a match was checked without anyone holding what was scanned.
Confidential computation has been live on Mainnet Alpha since February 2, with gaming teams among those building on it.
Competitive gaming has been choosing between cheaters and rootkits for twenty years, and computing the check without collecting the data is the first option that is neither.
