There are two assets called DOG on today’s Smart Money leaderboard: one has a net inflow of $20,355, while the other has a net outflow of $825. They’re not the same coin—their names just happen to match.

All three leaderboards are for BSC chain 56. The Trending and Smart Money leaderboards cover 24 hours, while the Profit leaderboard covers 7 days. Today, the 46 assets on the Smart Money leaderboard recorded a combined net inflow of $141,616: 31 were positive and 15 negative. That looks a lot smaller than the hundreds of thousands we saw a few days ago.

But this leaderboard is sorted by contract address; names are just labels. Besides DOG, there are also two entries for BI. One has a top-10 holder concentration of 99.27%, and the other 100%. Of the three names containing “Snowball,” AI智能雪球 is up $151.78, 超级雪球 is down $1,499.80, and 雪球重生 is down $339.05—for a combined net outflow of $1,687. The 超级雪球 entry had 13,925 trades in 24 hours, with a listed price change of +4007%. Money is sloshing between three contracts with the same name; looking at any one of them alone would give you the wrong impression. So when you say “this coin had a net inflow of X,” you need to check the contract address. Chinese meme names are much more likely to overlap than native coin names; the same two characters often refer to two different pools and two different groups of people.

The Trending leaderboard has a different flaw: it doesn’t count people. TSLAB logged 2,834,109 discussions today, generated by just 22 KOLs. Twenty-four hours earlier, the figure was 104,102—up 27-fold in a day. CRMB is even more extreme: one KOL accounts for 688,935 discussions. Compare that with BTC, where 271 KOLs account for 6,803,068. Divide discussions by the number of KOLs and TSLAB averages 129,000 per person, versus 25,000 for BTC—five times as much. The same label, “hot,” can mean lots of people each saying one thing, or one person saying the same thing tens of thousands of times.

The Profit leaderboard needs to be read the other way around. All 23 addresses were in profit over 7 days, for a combined $670,862. Looking at the top three coins by profit for each address, GANG appears on 7 addresses’ lists, with those 7 trades totaling $132,305—one-fifth of the leaderboard’s total. IRYS and Q each appear on 5 addresses’ lists. The addresses belong to different people, but they’re making money from the same set of coins.

Tomorrow, I’ll change how I read the leaderboards and use three steps: first check contract addresses and top-10 holder concentration; then calculate discussions per KOL; finally, count how much overlap there is among the coins driving profits. I’ll use names to search, not to judge.
