Recently, Baihe.com co-founder Mu Yan posted on WeChat Moments, revealing that an inexplicable freeze on his assets has left him struggling financially. He appealed to his contacts for alms and shared his WeChat payment QR code along with screenshots of multiple payment records.
Screenshots show frequent WeChat payments received from October 23 to 24, in amounts ranging from 0.01 yuan to 1,000 yuan per transaction. On October 23, 12 payments totaling 5,826.61 yuan were received. The senders’ notes included an old friend’s message, “Hang in there, old friend,” an unfamiliar user who wrote, “I don’t know you; I saw the post,” and a longtime user who wrote, “Thanks to Baihe.com, my husband and I have a happy home.”
In a caption on his WeChat Moments, Mu Yan reflected that the experience had brought him financial and emotional support from many friends. Even more unexpectedly, he reconnected with an old friend from 30 years ago after 20 years without contact, and the two arranged to meet for tea in Beijing and catch up. He wrote: “What started out as something bad gradually became something good, thanks to the power of friendship.”
According to Tianyancha, 10 companies are associated with Mu Yan, of which four remain in operation; the others have had their business licenses revoked or have been deregistered. Risk information shows that on October 15, Mu Yan became subject to enforcement proceedings for more than 650,000 yuan. The enforcement court was the People’s Court of Chaoyang District, Beijing.
