$INIT This afternoon’s close: at 16:00, it closed at 0.18477, with volume, reclaiming the upper side of 0.17885, which was the morning’s false breakout.

Morning recap: at 11:00, it closed at 0.17916, briefly moving above 0.17885 for the first time; by 12:00, it had already fallen back below 0.17590; and the 13–15 o’clock closes of 0.17690, 0.17305, and 0.17720 were all below that level — so the morning move should be treated as a false breakout, no problem.

This afternoon’s move is different. At 16:00, it opened at 0.17711, hit a high of 0.18626, and closed at 0.18477, with volume of about 487,000 USDT, about 3.6 times 15:00’s roughly 134,000. At 17:00, it continued to push up intraday to 0.18847, with the current price around 0.1875, still above 0.17885 (this hour has not closed yet, so it cannot be counted as a confirmed hold). OKX perpetuals are about 0.1871, with a deviation from spot within 0.2%, and the funding rate is about 0.005%, near zero, so there is no squeeze structure.

Why it rose: around 15:55 this afternoon, news came out that the Initia Foundation approved a grant to restore the 1:1 peg of iUSD collateral from the October 23 security incident, capped at 1.08 million USDC, 105 ETH, and 1.4 million AUSD0; the final transfer still needs approval verification. Note the wording: this is only one step forward in cleanup, not a restart — the chain is still paused, there is no restart time, and the full post-mortem report has not been released yet. The roughly $2.7 million incident on October 23 and the October 26 move by two South Korean exchanges to flag INIT as a caution asset and suspend deposits and withdrawals are still part of the unresolved background.

My view: reclaiming the level with volume is more credible than the morning’s single spike-through, but right now there is only one 16:00 closing confirmation, so the quality still needs the next candle to validate it. Invalidating level: if the 17:00 or 18:00 1h close falls back below 0.17885, this move should be rechecked as a false breakout; if it holds above, then watch the 0.19 area and the overnight high at 0.1987. Spot 24h is about +18.4%, with 24h turnover of about 7.1 million USDT; before chasing, decide how much drawdown you can accept.

Risk warning: the chain has not restarted, the post-incident report is not out, and the exchange caution-asset status has not been lifted. Any one of those reversing can take it right back to square one. This is not something to hold blindly.

What do you think about this reclaim: is it the start of the cleanup benefit being priced in, or just a plain oversold rebound?
