Datavault AI shares fell nearly 50% on Tuesday after the company disclosed that it could not withdraw a substantial bitcoin holding from a third-party wallet. Under an agreement signed in September 2025, Scilex Holding Co. agreed to exchange $150 million worth of bitcoin for Datavault AI shares and a pre-funded warrant. In an 8-K filing submitted on October 26, Datavault AI said an accounting error meant its financial statements for more than a year could no longer be relied upon. The company determined that the bitcoin should have been recorded as a subscription receivable, rather than a digital asset. Because it remains uncertain whether the funds can be recovered from Scilex, management is reassessing Datavault AI’s ability to continue as a going concern.
