SlowMist Chief Information Security Officer 23pds said the Coinbase data breach has been confirmed: attackers obtained the contact information of more than 70,000 users. It remains unconfirmed whether passwords or funds were stolen.

For users, the most important thing to guard against now is targeted phishing. Once information such as email addresses and phone numbers is exploited, fake customer support, fake security alerts, and fake withdrawal verifications can seem much more convincing. Use only the official app or website, don’t click unfamiliar links in text messages or emails, never disclose your password, verification codes, or recovery phrase, and check your two-factor authentication settings.

A data breach doesn’t necessarily mean funds will be lost immediately, but it significantly increases the likelihood of successful social engineering attacks. Careful verification is always more important than trying to fix things afterward.
