Wang Guangzhe’s research found that one type of trading pattern on Binance weakened in the first few weeks after Polymarket introduced an average settlement benchmark for cryptocurrency contracts. On August 7, Polymarket switched from a single-point snapshot to a Chainlink average, and on August 14 it extended the benchmark window for five-minute cryptocurrency markets to 60 seconds. Wang found that during the first three weeks after the 60-second mechanism took effect, trading did not systematically shift to earlier periods, and the reversal pattern previously seen near strike prices did not reappear. These findings do not establish whether current wallets are profitable, nor do they rule out every possible manipulation strategy. An earlier estimate that 821 wallets earned about $8.2 million concerned historical activity, not net strategy returns under the current rules.
