Crypto tax delayed again
South Korea’s crypto income tax
looks set to be postponed for the fourth time
It was originally due to take effect next year
but the presidential office is leaning toward pushing it to 2029
The reasoning is pretty solid: the U.S. won’t exchange transaction data until 2029
and there are concerns the tax burden would fall entirely on users of domestic exchanges
The tax would apply to annual net income after the tax-free allowance is deducted
The rate would be around 22%
It’s not finalized yet; the National Assembly would need to amend the law
I wrote this morning about the exchange education tax
That’s on the platform side; this is on the user side
Don’t mix them up
