Canada has published draft Stablecoin Regulations, laying down the rules for redemption: issuers must begin processing a redemption within 3 business days of receiving a request, and fees cannot exceed 1%.

There’s also no minimum redemption amount, so even if you’re holding just a tiny bit, you can ask the issuer to give you your money back.

The consultation period runs until December 23, and the regulations are scheduled to take effect in fall 2027. But this damn regulation seems pretty good at protecting retail investors. At least in the future, when cashing out USDT, you won’t have to worry about the issuer arbitrarily hitting you with fees. BTC
