The FOMC’s two-day meeting officially begins.
Tomorrow, October 28, at 2 p.m. ET (2 a.m. Beijing time on October 29), Warsh will announce the decision, followed by a press conference.
BTC is currently hovering around 80,000, about 36% below its all-time high of 126,000 and roughly 37% above its July low of 58,500. This is the most event-packed week of 2026—FOMC, PCE, and $1.22 billion in options expiring, all within the next three days.
We’ve been waiting five full weeks for this decision. Since September 21, BTC has been trading sideways in a tight 4% range between 80,000 and 84,000, with neither side able to break the stalemate.
Current market pricing: about an 85% chance of a rate pause in October, and about a 15% chance of a rate hike.
If they pause and the language is dovish: BTC may break out above the five-week range. If they pause but the language is hawkish (hinting at a December hike): the sideways action may continue. If they unexpectedly hike: the next key support is around 78,000.
Whatever the outcome, tonight through tomorrow is one of the windows this year when you really don’t want to take your eyes off the screen.
Tell us in the comments: how big is your position right now, and which way are you betting? We’ll randomly pick 3 people to receive a red packet, then review the outcome together after the FOMC decision.
