Why are the fees different for a limit order and a market order on the same trade?
Here’s how I understand it: For frequent short-term trades, fees can add up to more than you might expect and make up a significant share of your final returns.
Contract trading fees are calculated based on the notional value of the trade—that is, the execution price multiplied by the quantity—not the margin invested.
What I do: If you’re not in a hurry to get filled, you can place a limit order and wait for it to fill. This can generally save you some fees.
