The BNB Chain team says it’s working on something new: a parallel Layer 1, codenamed New L1. It’s designed for sub-second latency and high-frequency payments. The key point is that it won’t issue a new token—staking and gas fees will all use BNB, following a “multiple chains, one token” approach. The testnet is planned for the end of 2026, with the mainnet launching in early 2027. This time, BSC isn’t relying on a new token to raise money; it’s locking the value directly into BNB. It sounds like a big plan—we’ll have to see whether they can deliver on schedule.
