The same local index can get its blocks from two places—it’s just a toggle in dogeuni-node.

Use P2P: nodes discover and connect to one another automatically. No need to run a full node first; install it and start syncing. The trade-off is that you’re relying on the online nodes in the network to provide your data.

Connect your own Dogecoin Core: run an additional full node of your own and fetch blocks locally, from a single, clearly defined source. The trade-off is that you’re responsible for the sync time and disk space.

Both options feed the same local database, so the sync progress, index logs, and database stats look the same in the interface. The difference is who’s responsible for verification if something goes wrong: with an extra layer in the data’s provenance, the responsibility for checking it still rests with you.
