Keystone Wallet suffers data breach, adding pressure on hardware wallet sector

On October 20, unauthorized access to Keystone’s website exposed customer names, contact details, shipping addresses, and order information, including purchased products and prices.

The company confirmed that payment card data, bank details, wallet passwords, recovery phrases, and private keys were not compromised.

Keystone has blocked the intrusion, patched the vulnerability, launched an investigation and is contacting affected clients.

The incident follows recent breaches at Ledger—where devices were modified in Southeast Asian distribution channels—and Trezor, where a logistics‑provider leak exposed over 80,000 customers.

What steps should hardware wallet providers take to protect user data beyond the device itself?
