Slow down, don’t rush—look at the data before making a move.
The Dow fell 653 points, and $BTC did not break 80,000
The data don’t lie. On October 23, the Dow closed down 652.82 points, a drop of 1.23%; the S&P 500 fell 0.52%, and the Nasdaq fell 0.21%. The screen was full of the words "sharp drop." But on the same day, BTC was priced at 80,373.28, down 1.31% over 24 hours, with an intraday low of 79,220.74 and a high of 81,452.62. Put the two numbers together: the Dow fell 1.23%, BTC fell 1.31%, and the gap in declines was only 0.08 percentage points. The so-called "massive selloff in risk assets" did not happen.
What’s even more worth watching is the inside of the sectors. While the Dow fell the hardest, the tech sector actually rose 0.35% against the trend, energy jumped 2.51%, and consumer staples lagged at -1.83%. If this were truly a broad risk-off move, money should be rushing into consumer staples and abandoning energy and tech. Now it’s completely the opposite. This is not a selloff, it’s a rotation. The market is repricing direction, not exiting en masse.
BTC is the same. Its full-day range was 2.82%, under 3% on a day when U.S. stocks "plunged." The low of 79,220.74 was only tested once and never revisited, showing that selling pressure was absorbed around this level. What digital gold is proving right now is not that it can rise, but that it refuses to fall. Current price is near the low
