AERO accounts are about 30% long and nearly 70% short, while funding rates on both exchanges are still slightly positive. Yet in the 1-hour window, about $156,000 in longs were liquidated, versus almost nothing in shorts; the 4-hour liquidation disparity widened further to about 1,835x. Positions are clearly skewed short, but liquidations are overwhelmingly hitting longs.
Binance is around $0.6897 (-8.8420%), and OKX around $0.6902 (-9.0166%). In the 4-hour window, about $306,000 in longs and around $167 in shorts were liquidated, for a total of about $306,000 across 119 liquidations. The disparity is still around 1,838x over 12 hours; when the 24-hour total reaches about $670,000, the disparity narrows to around 9x. Open interest is about 34.77 million on Binance, 2.91 million on OKX, and 112 million across all exchanges. The long/short account ratio is about 34:66, and the average funding rate is slightly positive.
Short positions dominate by account count, and the funding rate doesn’t point to a short squeeze. Yet nearly all liquidations in the short window are longs—this looks more like remaining highly leveraged long positions being closed en masse during the downturn than shorts being collectively squeezed after gaining the upper hand.

With nearly 70% of positions leaning short and the funding rate still slightly positive, the short-window liquidation imbalance is nevertheless over 1,000x. Do you think the remaining longs are simply overleveraged, or did liquidity dry up on the long side first during the downturn?
