Franklin Templeton just put $150 million worth of money market fund shares directly on XRPL, pushing the value of BENJI on the chain to $200 million overnight.

The most intriguing part is the on-chain data: all $150 million worth of shares were transferred in one lump sum to a single wallet.

Don’t be taken in by traditional media PR spin about “traditional giants betting on Web3.” Look past the on-chain activity and what’s really happening is nothing like a win for retail investors—it’s institutions making an extremely calculated move in the RWA sector:

Institutions aren’t willing to pay Solana and Ethereum’s high gas fees or deal with fragmented liquidity. Their reasons for choosing XRPL are simple: extremely low fees, a natively compliant architecture, and, most importantly, the ease of on-chain accounting. Franklin Templeton isn’t looking for crypto-native “DeFi LPs.” It wants a compliant, fast, near-zero-cost channel for clearing and settling tokenized Treasuries.

A $150 million injection into a single address lays bare the reality of RWA today: this isn’t a game for retail investors. This is market makers, large family offices, or specific B2B institutions moving assets onto the blockchain as part of their balance sheets ($BNB Balance Sheet). The money is deposited to earn the risk-free 4%–5% yield on U.S. Treasuries, while XRPL is simply being used as the underlying ledger.

As capital preferences in the crypto market become increasingly divided, BlackRock’s BUIDL and Franklin Templeton’s BENJI are battling for territory across different public blockchains ($ETH Ethereum, Stellar, Base, and XRPL). Whoever can integrate Treasury yields most seamlessly into lending protocols and market-maker margin pools will capture the liquidity gateway for institutional-grade Web3 capital.

For ordinary traders, there’s no need to join the chorus predicting XRP will soar.

The real opportunity lies in recognizing the trend: on-chain risk-free yields (RWA) are rapidly becoming a safe haven for capital from major players. As institutional funds worth hundreds of millions settle on-chain, the next step will inevitably be secondary staking, compliant lending, and derivatives liquidity built around these tokenized Treasury assets.

Understanding capital flows is a hundred times more important than reading PR news.
