Serengeti III: INTERPOL reports more than $105 million recovered

INTERPOL published the results of Serengeti III on October 22, 2026. The operation ran from June 29 to August 31, with authorities from 21 countries taking part and 1,462 suspects arrested.

The more than $105 million recovered relates to the entire cybercrime operation. It does not represent cryptocurrency alone, nor does it confirm that all victims were reimbursed.

In Angola, two centers described as illegal mining operations were dismantled, and more than 2,000 pieces of equipment were seized. In Nigeria, a separate investigation traced more than $2.4 million believed to be proceeds of crime, much of it through crypto; those funds are not reported as recovered.

The statement does not identify any tokens or networks. Investigations are ongoing; arrests are not convictions.

For market context, at 02:51 UTC on October 24, Binance showed BTC at 80,941.07 USDT (-1.21% over 24 hours) and ETH at 2,382.95 USDT (-1.27%). These quotes do not establish links to the cases or any impact of the operation on prices.

My take: a police operation provides information about investigations and recoveries, but does not by itself measure the risk of the entire market. When evaluating platforms and investment proposals, it is worth distinguishing verifiable activity, commercial promises, and judicial outcomes. Traceability does not guarantee that funds will be recovered.
