Woke up to another jump in oil prices: WTI settled at 103.27, while Brent surged to 116.72, marking a third straight day of gains.

The trigger was a Houthi drone strike on Saudi Aramco. CNBC also reported that the US and Israel are weighing another strike on Iran. When geopolitical tensions flare up, oil prices lose no time in climbing.

US stocks didn’t fall much on Friday. The Nasdaq slipped just 0.21%, while old-economy names like those in the Dow took the hit (-1.23%). Energy stocks gained 2.51%, and semiconductor funds bounced 1.29% intraday. Micron rose 3.41%—after Thursday’s brutal hit, buyers stepped in the very next day.

Gold broke above 4,000 intraday, then closed back at 4,007.5. Bulls and bears spent the day testing each other at that big round number.
