On 10/21, the OCC finalized the GENIUS Act rules:
📌 Issuers must hold full 1:1 reserves (cash / deposits / short-term Treasury bills)
📌 Redemptions generally arrive within 2 business days
📌 Direct interest payments are prohibited; indirect returns are reviewed case by case
Effective January 18, 2027
📌 When choosing a stablecoin, first check reserve transparency and redemption mechanisms
📌 Stablecoins promising high interest for “easy money” are likely noncompliant
📌 The rules only cover regulated issuers; you bear the risk with smaller coins
