🇫🇷 France proposes: If exchanges connect you to DeFi, should they be liable when things go wrong?
France’s Ministry of Finance, AMF, central bank, and ACPR jointly published their response today to a consultation on MiCA amendments: crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) that actively give users access to DeFi protocols, but fail to review those protocols or ignore known security risks, should be liable for some user losses if something goes wrong.
📌 Current MiCA rules don’t cover fully decentralized services with no intermediaries
📌 France’s proposal = require platforms that act as “DeFi gateways” to review protocols
📌 The European Commission will assess the proposal and submit a report to lawmakers by June 30, 2027, at the latest; it may propose legislative changes
Market update for the same day: Bitcoin rebounded above $83,000, while spot ETFs saw net inflows of around $550 million over two days (Bitcoin.com/ET).
Do you think platforms should backstop DeFi access? Would that mean less on-chain investing through CEXs, or make things safer for newcomers? Share your thoughts in the comments 👇
