$ATH is about to start being burned every day: Aethir officially announced this evening Beijing time that it is changing its tokenomics. Starting next month, a portion of network fees will be used to burn ATH every day.
Aethir is a decentralized GPU computing cloud that rents out graphics cards in data centers around the world to customers working on AI training, inference, and gaming. ATH is used to pay for computing power and to reward nodes that provide GPUs.
The company says the amount burned each day will be tied to the actual amount of computing power sold on the network: the better business does, the more tokens will be burned. All burned tokens will be sent to a publicly viewable burn address. A dashboard will go live next month alongside the first burn, allowing anyone to verify each transaction.
Another change concerns fees. The fixed platform fee is being replaced with a variable network fee, calculated using a public formula and an average price over a period of time. When market conditions weaken, the fee rate will be lowered, while the share allocated to burning will actually increase.
This design aims to protect nodes that provide GPUs. Aethir says the variable fee rate is capped and will never exceed the rewards received by nodes. The existing reward distribution schedule for nodes will also remain unchanged, and CertiK has audited the mechanism.
For context, the total supply of ATH is fixed at 42 billion and has never changed. This update affects the new supply side: the amount burned each day will directly offset some of the newly circulating tokens.
