XRP's ledger has a software upgrade scheduled for Friday — hanging by a single validator vote.

The fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment is projected to activate around 09:34 UTC on October 23. As of October 19 it held exactly 29 of 35 trusted-validator votes — the bare minimum above the 80% supermajority, with zero buffer. XRPL requires that supermajority to hold for 14 straight days; the countdown started October 9, and if one validator flips before Friday, the clock resets for another two weeks.

Shipped with rippled 3.4.0, the package is plumbing, not product: fixes for an AMM bug that could burn LP tokens without returning assets, a PaymentBurn bug that could mint tokens instead of destroying them, plus vault accounting, escrow and permission handling.

What it's NOT: native lending. The LendingProtocol amendment sits at 19 votes and its vault companion at 21 — neither has entered the countdown, so no on-ledger loans before November at the earliest. Node operators face the real deadline: run updated software or get amendment-blocked and fall off consensus.

$XRP trades $1.3385 (+3.1%/24h) — the upgrade itself moves no price; it just has to not break.

Does native lending on XRPL actually matter for XRP — or is the ledger fine as a payments rail? NFA. DYOR.
