Don’t ask whether it can go up; ask whether it’s worth buying.

$BTC Leads Over Ten Years; Bear-Market Scenario: -9.7%

JPMorgan has put a number on Bitcoin’s ten-year outlook: 10% annualized in the base case, ahead of U.S. stocks at 7.5%–7.7% and gold at around 5%. People are already repeating the phrase “leading over ten years.” The data doesn’t lie, but the full picture is three numbers: 17%, 10%, and -9.7%.
First, look at the structure. The advantage of 10% over 7.5%–7.7% is only about 2.4 percentage points, while the bear-market scenario is -9.7%. Taking on an annual scenario close to -10% for an excess return of 2.4% isn’t a free premium—it’s a valuation that comes with volatility. The fact that the institution included a bear-market scenario in its report shows that it doesn’t consider BTC a low-volatility asset.
Now, look at the present. BTC is currently at 82,982.05, up 1.43% over 24 hours, with an intraday range of 81,200–83,439 and a swing of about 2.7%. A 2.7% move in a day already eats up more than a quarter of the benchmark’s annualized return; at this rate, a bear-market decline of -9.7% would take just 3.6 such trading days. A long-term forecast is a valuation anchor, not a reason to enter.
The conclusion should be measured: the ten-year expected return is an allocation rationale, not a signal for today. Wait for signals—whether 83,439 holds and whether 81,200 breaks matter more than copying a single line.
