After five years of trading, the lesson that cost me the most:

It wasn’t getting the direction wrong.
It wasn’t picking the wrong coin.

It was trading on emotion when I had no system.

When the market was good, I’d go all in and think I was a genius.
When things turned south, I’d keep changing direction, get stopped out and then reverse my position—until I got hit from both sides.

Back then, I looked through my trade history—
I always had a reason when I made money, and I always had a reason when I lost it.

The problem wasn’t whether my reasons were right.
It was that I had no consistent framework to keep myself in check.

Later, I forced myself to trade systematically—
no matter how strong my feelings were, I wouldn’t act without a signal.

It was painful for a while, but my results became more consistent.

Five years later, the difference between having a system and not having one isn’t in the returns—it’s in your mindset.
