Over the past week, Strive bought 4,045 BTC, while Strategy bought 267 BTC but also spent $193 million repurchasing STRC shares. The two institutions’ funding priorities were almost opposite.

Strive added to its holdings in several batches from October 12 to 16, at an average Bitcoin price of about $82,803 for the week. Its total holdings reached 36,818 BTC—a move that looks more like a continued effort to build Bitcoin into a core position.

Strategy, by contrast, added about $22 million worth of Bitcoin but spent nearly $200 million on share buybacks. In other words, it is investing in both Bitcoin and its own stock, but the bulk of its spending is still going toward equity.

This combination—one company focused on BTC, the other favoring buybacks—reflects differing views among institutions about asset priorities. The question now is whether this divergence will become the norm or is just a temporary strategy adopted by a handful of companies.
