The Linux 7.3 kernel was officially released on October 19. Alongside the usual I/O performance improvements and support for AMD’s Zen 6 architecture, it also happens to include a fix for issues affecting certain firmware versions of the Samsung 990 PRO and 990 EVO Plus SSDs.

For users who’ve been plagued by firmware bugs, fixing these annoying little firmware issues is far more tangible than the nebulous promise of support for a new architecture.
