I keep coming back to the same idea lately.

AI agents are getting better at research, writing, and planning, but most of them still cannot safely spend money or complete real tasks on their own. That gap is what the agent economy is really about.

The agent economy is the shift where software agents can discover services, negotiate simple terms, pay for what they need, and finish work without a human approving every small step.

An agent could book travel, restock supplies for a small business, or pay for data and compute while it works.

For that to feel safe, three things have to work together: clear identity, strict spending limits, and payments that are cheap and instant.

Right now those pieces are mostly missing.

Giving an agent a credit card is too risky. Traditional payment rails struggle with tiny, frequent transactions. And it is hard to prove which agent acted, whose authority it used, and what rules applied.

Kite is building the layer that tries to solve this.

It uses a simple three part identity model. You keep the root control. Your agent gets its own delegated identity that is linked back to you. Each task runs under a temporary session that expires.

You set the rules once: total budget, per payment limit, time window, and which services are allowed.

The rules are enforced by the system, not by trust.

Payments settle in stablecoins with very low fees so even small charges make sense. Every payment stays linked to the human who approved the session, so there is a clear audit trail.

Real examples are already appearing.

Agents can shop within a set budget, book local experiences, or pay for APIs under limits the user defines.

The idea is not to remove the human. It is to let the agent handle the repetitive parts while you stay in control of the boundaries.

That is one reason I wanted to share this. Original thinking on how agents will actually pay and act is still early, and it is worth discussing now.

What part of giving agents controlled spending power feels most useful or most risky to you?
