$SAND 0.059 Two consecutive closes broke below; the entire breakout is invalidated as false

First, here’s where I stand: after the invalidation, will price continue with the trend and fall back toward the starting area around 0.0536, or are shorts too crowded with the funding rate at -0.21%, setting the stage for a squeeze and a relief bounce first? I’m taking the view that the invalidation holds and any rebound will meet resistance—but I’m only counting closes. Until price closes back above 0.059, I won’t talk about a recovery.

Let’s lay out the levels clearly: the breakout first opened on the evening of October 17. After breaking above 0.063, two closes briefly moved back above it yesterday afternoon, confirming that the breakout had resumed. Then, from 17:00 onward, six consecutive closes stayed below 0.063, putting that recovery in doubt all evening. Last night’s 23:00 close was 0.05892, the first close below the 0.059 level that invalidates the entire move. The next candle, at 00:00 today, closed at 0.05730 on roughly 621,000 USDT in volume. It not only failed to reclaim the level, but closed even lower. That fulfills the rule written in the ledger: if price breaks below and the next candle fails to reclaim it, the entire breakout is invalidated as false. Before publication, spot was around 0.0588, down about 6% over 24 hours, with roughly 17.4 million USDT in 24-hour spot volume. From the 24-hour high of 0.06808, the drawdown based on closes was about 16%.

Why the drop? I couldn’t find any new SAND-specific negative news; there’s still no catalyst. The broader market is dragging it down in tandem: $BTC fell from around 82,000 starting at 21:00 last night, closing at 81,027 at 00:00 and dipping to around 80,7xx during the early hours. More importantly, its own fuel for a short squeeze is fading: the funding rate narrowed steadily from yesterday afternoon’s extreme of -0.93% to around -0.21%, while open interest fell from roughly $9.8 million to about $7.75 million. The squeeze on shorts has lost its fuel, and the price is sliding lower along with the broader market.

My view: the entire breakout is invalidated, and 0.059 has flipped from support to resistance. The first downside level to watch is 0.0536—the intraday starting point of this move on October 17. The condition for overturning the invalidation is just as clear: only a high-volume close above 0.063 would put a recovery back on the table. A single close back above 0.059 is only a sign to watch for stabilization; it doesn’t count as a recovery. One caution in the other direction: the funding rate is still an extreme negative at -0.21%, so shorts remain crowded. Chasing shorts after the invalidation still carries the risk of getting caught by a sudden squeeze-driven bounce. This is not investment advice.

Which side are you on: a continued move back to the starting point, or a squeeze-driven bounce first before the next drop?
