🚨 Tomorrow, Monday, October 19, the Chicago CME, one of the world’s largest derivatives exchanges, is launching futures contracts on $UNI (Uniswap) and $BCH (Bitcoin Cash). But UNI has already lost more than 30% since its peak. Why?

📌 The facts (CME Group, CFTC, Stocktwits, Sept. 22–Oct. 18, 2026)
• Standard UNI contract: 10,000 UNI. “Micro” contract: 1,000 UNI
• BCH: 250 BCH (standard) and 25 BCH (micro)
• Settled in dollars, with no token delivery, based on a reference price calculated daily by CF Benchmarks (3–4 p.m. London time)
• UNI: peaked at $10.90, around $7.24 this Sunday
• In late September, more than $40 million worth of UNI was deposited on Binance per day, a yearly record (CryptoQuant, Darkfost)

🧠 How it works
A futures contract is a bet on the future price, paid in dollars. It doesn’t involve buying any UNI. It mainly allows large funds to hedge or bet on a price drop in a regulated environment. Ahead of the event, many holders sent their tokens to exchanges to sell: “buy the rumor, sell the news.”

⚖️ The nuance
• Deposits on Binance are slowing: some analysts see this as a possible bottom, but it’s not certain
• Uniswap activity remains solid: around $3.9 billion deposited in the protocol (DefiLlama, Oct. 16)
• One micro contract at ~$7.24 represents ~$7,240 in exposure: this product isn’t designed for small budgets

👤 Salif, a mechanic in Kayes, gets a WhatsApp message: “UNI is coming to Chicago, it’s going to explode!” In reality, the listing of a derivatives product doesn’t guarantee any price increase. It may even make it easier to bet on a price drop.

✅ A Wall Street listing is one more tool, not a promise of higher prices.
