On October 12, the figure given for this campaign was “over 100,000 tasks.” Five days later, the CoinMarketCap entry dated 2026-10-17 listed 1 million. Same DogeOS task campaign, two numbers, five days apart (checked 2026-10-18T11:10Z).
Tracing them back: the 100,000 figure came from a secondhand account of what the team said; the 1 million figure came from an entry on an exchange data site. The campaign itself ran on a testnet, and the same page also said that mainnet adoption and token plans had yet to be confirmed.
The number grew by an order of magnitude in five days. I have only these two sources and dates; I couldn’t find out whether there were other claims in between. The discrepancy comes from retellings: with each retelling, the scale can change, and people checking the claim often see only the latest version.
