On the daily chart, the main trend is downward, with the falling channel and the pattern of lower highs and lower lows still intact. The price is around 4,166.75; 4,227 is near-term resistance, followed by the important 4,300 level. If the price cannot break above these levels and the descending trendline and hold there, any rebound may remain a correction for now. On the downside, 4,065 is the first support; if this area breaks, the 4,018–4,000 range could come into focus, followed by the previous chart low near 3,942. The macro outlook for gold is mixed, but interest rate expectations are creating near-term pressure. U.S. September CPI rose to 3.7% year over year, while core inflation came in at 2.6%. In September, the Fed raised its policy rate to a range of 3.75–4.00% and said inflation remained elevated. This could support the dollar and Treasury yields on expectations that rates will stay higher for longer or rise again, putting pressure on non-yielding gold. On the other hand, on October 16, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh gave no firm signal about another rate move; falling Treasury yields and a weaker dollar also supported gold. The fundamental outlook is therefore not one-sided: holding above 4,065 and breaking above 4,227 could strengthen the prospect of a short-term recovery, while daily closes below 4,065 would increase the risk of a decline toward support at 4,018–4,000. $XAU #RWA
