Half delivered by morning: $BTC 4-hour close at 81,960, above the first level
First, let’s take a side: of the three levels set this morning, price cleared one by noon—the 08:00 four-hour candle closed at 81,960, above 81,770. Four consecutive hourly closes moved higher (81,542→81,657→81,830→81,960), and price touched 82,078 intraday. At midday, it was at 81,792, up 0.30% over 24 hours. But it still hasn’t reached the second level, 82,634, so my assessment hasn’t changed: the first hurdle is cleared, but that doesn’t confirm a recovery. The real test is whether the 16:00 four-hour candle can close and hold above 81,770. Which side are you on?
$ETH has kept pace, but not matched the strength: the four-hour candle closed at 2,425.5; at midday it was 2,415, down 0.45% over 24 hours. BTC has turned green, but it’s still in the red, so the relative weakness I mentioned this morning remains. Funding is still neutral (by OKX figures, BTC around +0.0026% and ETH around +0.0072%), and leverage isn’t crowded to one side. This morning’s move was a gradual spot-market push, not a short squeeze.
The altcoin market’s morning progress was structural, not reflected in gains: $SAND closed at 0.06354 at 11:00, its first close above 0.063, but funding was deeply negative at around -0.80%, suggesting an extreme short squeeze. A recovery only starts to open up if the next candle, at 13:00, also closes above that level. AVA’s first candle closed above 0.40 (at 0.4039); GTC briefly broke below 0.2816 intraday, touched 0.2897, then fell back. Without a candle close, it doesn’t count as holding the level. In all these cases, we’re “one close away”—don’t jump the gun.
My invalidation level: a four-hour close back below 81,770 voids the first-hurdle reclaim and takes us back to the 80,800 double-bottom grind scenario. Only a sustained close above 82,634 would justify talking about a recovery. Tonight’s weekly close, followed by oil prices and the U.S. stock market open on Monday, are the next real variables.
This is only my personal market commentary and does not guarantee returns. Sunday trading is thin, with plenty of wicks, so manage your own position size.
Pick one: does price hold 81,770 this afternoon and push for 82,634 tonight, or does it get knocked back toward the double-bottom area in late Sunday trading?
