South Korea's government plans to hold an October 20 forum with five major crypto exchanges and the Digital Asset Exchange Alliance on taxation scheduled for January 2027, Yonhap reported. The current plan sets a 22% tax on income from virtual asset transfers and lending after a basic exemption of 2.5 million Korean won. The policy has been postponed three times since being proposed in 2020. The government is continuing preparations according to the original timetable.
