After holding for two days, 0.00071 finally gave way: $AMP confirms the false breakout—this time it’s not just a close call along the line

Let me make my stance clear first: I’m treating that breakout in the early hours of October 17 as a false breakout—the invalidation level was breached at the close for three consecutive candles. I won’t call it a recovery until price gets back above 0.00077. Which side are you on?

Let’s go over the levels:
The breakout initially looked pretty solid: during the 23:00 hour on October 16, volume was around 2.14 million USDT, and the close was above the two-day range. In the early hours of the next day, price climbed to 0.000849. I posted my first take around 0.000800, with invalidation set at a 1h close below 0.00071. The next two days were all about clinging to the line: 0.000712, 0.000726, 0.000717, 0.000711—each candle barely held on, so I never confirmed a breakdown.

This time is different. The 04:00 candle closed at 0.000709, just below the level; the 05:00 candle closed at 0.000700, right at the hourly low; then the 06:00 candle closed at 0.000701 and the 07:00 candle at 0.000709. That’s three consecutive clear closes below 0.00071. Price was around 0.000704 intraday at 08:00 and still failed to reclaim it. Before this post, Binance spot was at 0.000704 and KuCoin at 0.000706—both in agreement. That’s a roughly 17% pullback from the 0.000849 high, with 24h spot volume down to around 3.14 million USDT and a 24h change of about -4.5%.

The most damaging part is the volume: those breakdown candles traded only around 30,000–60,000 USDT per hour—roughly one-thirtieth of the 2.14 million traded during the breakout hour. It wasn’t a sell-off; there simply weren’t any buyers. The fuel ran out, and price slid down on its own. To turn things around, volume needs to come back first.

As for why it fell, I haven’t found any clear new negative catalyst. It still looks like a natural fade after a rally with no news behind it. OKX hasn’t listed $AMP . I couldn’t find funding-rate or open-interest data, so leverage crowding isn’t visible.

From here, I’m watching the closes: a 1h close back above 0.00071 on rising volume would count only as a reclaim of the breakdown level. The current bearish view won’t start to weaken until price gets back above 0.00077 and holds there on a close. If it can’t reclaim that level, the first downside area to watch is the lower end of the original range, around 0.00065.

After a thinly traded coin breaks down, it can easily grind lower faster—and it can just as easily snap back in a single candle. Don’t chase shorts, and don’t rush to buy the dip either. Manage your position size carefully.

Pick one: is this really over, with price grinding down toward 0.00065, or will another high-volume candle close back above 0.00077 and prove me wrong?
