Bitcoin fell 0.15% to 81,500, while Ethereum fell 0.86%, marking the third consecutive day of broad declines. All eight sectors had negative median returns. Privacy had the highest share of gainers at 20%, while L2 scaling was at 0%.
Trading volume contracted sharply. L1 blockchain volume fell from 1.35 billion yesterday to 708 million, while Bitcoin volume fell from 1.02 billion to 574 million—down more than 40% in both cases. The previous few days saw active selling, with volume rising as prices fell. Today’s decline came on lower volume, which is a different pattern.
L2 scaling had a median decline of 6.38%, the worst among the eight sectors, with breadth at 0%. ARB fell 5.3%, and OP fell 6.4%. This sector has now had zero breadth three times in seven days.
Only SAND appeared among the gainers, rising 10.85% on volume of 19.4 million. It was the only asset that was not in negative territory, and belongs to the gaming and metaverse space.
There has been no clear sector direction for three consecutive days, but contracting volume suggests selling pressure is easing. I’m watching to see whether any sector can push breadth above 50% after this volume contraction. Until then, I won’t assume a rebound.
