【Behind the 84% plunge: UNI is different this time—and it’s not because of the price】

Down 84% from its ATH, down 6.8% in the past 7 days, and now at $7.12.

Looking at these three numbers, what comes to mind? Oversold? A bottom signal? Or has the project run its course?

That’s not what I see.

What I see is this: trading volume has surged unusually during this downturn, exceeding 5% of the market cap. What does that mean? It means some people are selling, while others are buying—and big money is on the move. This isn’t just small-time retail activity.

Now that’s interesting.

Why?

I’ve verified a pattern: market sentiment is often at its worst just before big money really enters the market. By the time retail investors catch on, the price is already somewhere else. The FNG is at 55, with a weekly average of 60. Market sentiment is right in that in-between zone—not extreme fear, but not optimistic either. In this kind of climate, big players can accumulate positions most comfortably.

Of course, I’m not saying you should rush in and buy right now. I’m saying this signal is worth keeping an eye on.

From a business perspective, Uniswap is still generating daily on-chain fee revenue and running pretty healthily. If its ecosystem is still in good shape, then being valued this low means the market is making a mistake. The question is whether you can wait until the day the market admits it.

I’ve seen this cycle play out too many times. The project doesn’t change, but the price does. Most people don’t stick around long enough.

If you want to seize opportunities like this, you first need to think clearly about one thing: are you betting that the market is wrong, or that there’s something wrong with the project itself? Those two things can look alike, but they lead to completely different outcomes.

Which do you think it is for UNI right now?
