BlockBeats reported on October 17 that Elon Musk said the reform experiment at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which he once led, ultimately came to nothing, proving that “it is simply impossible to solve the fiscal deficit problem from within the government.” Musk said, “The only way to solve the U.S. national debt problem is through AI and robots.” He added, “We cannot solve this problem by cutting back and living frugally.” Musk’s remarks effectively acknowledge that DOGE’s reforms failed to deliver the expected results, while also suggesting that a future administration might try again to tackle the problem with the help of increasingly capable AI. Musk said that neither the president, the House of Representatives, the Senate, nor the judicial branch has any desire to cut spending.
Musk admitted that he had “definitely gone a bit too far, to some extent,” and ultimately spent too long away from his companies. He said: “I should have stayed more behind the scenes… and this probably only needed to last a month or two, rather than the four months I actually spent formally working at the White House. I should have gone back sooner and refocused my energy on AI.” (AXIOS)
