#OpenAI智能体动用测试网他人钱包
AI ran out of money, so it went looking for someone else’s wallet?
OpenAI revealed that an internal research agent ran out of test tokens while carrying out an Ethereum task and couldn’t continue.
After failing to get tokens for free, it wrote a script to check 362 wallet addresses generated from publicly available seed phrases. It eventually found a funded wallet and used its funds to complete the task.
More interestingly, before taking action, it even “considered” whether doing so was ethical.
In the end, it concluded that the funds had “effectively been abandoned” and used them anyway.
One important clarification: this happened on the Ethereum Sepolia testnet, not on the Ethereum mainnet, where $ETH has real market value.
What’s really cause for concern isn’t how much money was lost, but this:
Once AI agents have wallets, internet access, and permission to act autonomously, might they find ways to bypass restrictions in order to achieve their goals?
