$LINK has gained another champion in Japan. Tokyo-based Pacific Meta announced on Friday, Beijing time, that it had formed a strategic partnership with Chainlink, designating CCIP as its preferred cross-chain solution.

Chainlink is an oracle network that connects on-chain applications to external data. CCIP is its cross-chain protocol for transferring assets and messages between different blockchains.

Pacific Meta is a consulting firm that helps overseas blockchain products enter the Japanese market. As part of the partnership, it will also incorporate Chainlink’s Automated Compliance Engine (ACE) into its implementation services for Japanese financial institutions looking to issue tokenized assets.

The companies said security was the main reason for choosing CCIP. Losses from cross-chain exploits have already topped $3 billion, so choosing cross-chain infrastructure should involve more than simply counting how many blockchains it supports.

Chainlink’s partnerships with traditional finance are nothing new: the press release lists Swift, Euroclear, and UBS as users of its standards. What’s new this time is a local firm dedicated to helping Japanese institutions navigate regulatory requirements and business practices.
